Earl showed me these way great blank books with white covers.... okay, he handed me one, and I handed him $ back and told him I was keeping it. This is wayyyy excellent. To the internet Batman! So, I found the books. Smaller than the one he showed me, but beggars can't be choosers. I ordered a few, and have promised half to Heather (sigh). They have 14 interior sheets and could be conceivably filled in one or two cons. so... For Earl, who obviously spawned a monster. and in the category of things I would never draw on my own... For Rene, who was a fan of the short lived show. Maybe I'll do one for next week's Rocky Mountain Fur Con... Anyone going? I could take orders for $40. Well, a couple anyway. I've only got so many books. |

*ded* Hi LJ-land. Late today Joe and I got confirmation that our potential new place to live is a definite. Faboo!
I can't go into much detail yet but there is a home-made cat run in the near future.
I'm tired today, very tired... and a little sick too. That's the last time I take JB's lunch recommendation. ;P Worrying about the move plus finding potential new flatmates to replace Joe and I here at Cootie County has left me drained this week. I haven't been able to focus at work and I've been slacking off on my walking. I'm tired of so much responsibility. If I don't put down some of the balls I'm juggling soon my arms are going to fall off.
My kitties will finally roam on the green grass with sun on their backs. I'll stay fit with a nice long (yet practical) walk to work and save money on bus fares. Joey's travel time will be a mere third of what it is now. I'll be living somewhere where the extent of my responsibility is to simply be a flatmate, not to run the place. For once I'm making a decision - a smart one - based solely on what's best for me (and Joey). Oh the bliss... I'm so tired. I already said that, right?
I'm going to miss this place though. I've loved it here: the location and the people, anyway. Not so much the everyday nagging stress that the real estate will find out about the cats, nor having to constantly keep said feline friends stuck indoors, nor the landlord's weird rules about the garden, nor the rent increase(s), nor the dodgy house itself. Cootie County has many memories, good and bad.
We've got two more weeks from this weekend...
To do list:
- Discuss with flatmates what items they'd like me to leave for their use (better that my stuff benefits someone rather than gathering dust in our new garage) - Buy carpet cleaning stuff and scrub away cat stains - Organise pickup and payment for cat-netting to build kitty outdoor safe-zone - Pay final 2 weeks rent - Tally up final electricity/gas/internet/phone bill amounts - Organise van for the move - Get the TV back - Sort out bond - Let Kim know what day Vinnies will be coming to pick up the stuff Chris left behind - Throw out a bunch of stuff - Sell a bunch of other stuff - Discuss and plan where furniture will fit in new place - Box up dry foodstuffs and utensils
It's 6:44pm and I'm about to go to bed because I'm just that exhausted. Augh. And all I can think about is the productive things I could be doing if I stayed awake. Apologies for the moping, it was a much-needed vent and I feel better now. But I really need to get to bed and catch up on sleep, because for some time yet the old adage "No rest for the wicked" will continue to rule my life.

Amburgers and Wootbeer Warning: Do NOT try A&W's "Rootbeer Float in a Bottle". I guess the only good thing is its one of the few American beverages out there that uses real sugar instead of corn syrup, and this is made with "real cream!" Oh god, urp. So much anticipation, wasted D: Current Mood: sick |

Califur Originals Hey All Here is some art for you to enjoy as I'm just about ready to head out to Califur in California! My apologies for not posting any new art recently as things have been very busy. Hopefully I will be able to do that after RMFC . ;) I have been busy with commissions so this convention I decided to find some good homes for a few older art as well as some new.

Driving Mrs Donna Drove Donna Barr back to her place up at Challum Bay today. Neat to see the old home territory again, but was dismayed with how much has changed, especially nasty new clear cuts of the forests. |

A rather odd question that's sorta garden related I am hoping to get some advice from others who may have had problems with birds. I have a couple of hanging baskets on my patio, and while outside reading earlier, I noticed my strawflower basket was...moving. Upon closer inspection, I saw some moss and twigs hanging out of the sides of the basket! When I got closer, I startled the Dark-Eyed Junco out of the basket, and she was quite upset with me. She looked like she was going to peck my eyes out, so I waited a few moments, scared her far enough away to grab the basket, then proceeded to clean it up. As much as I love birds, I really don't want a protective mother Junco making a nest in the basket right next to my front gate. Is there anything I can do to discourage her from re-nesting in the basket? I placed a couple of objects in the basket so that it would be difficult for her to get back in there and moved it to a less sheltered location (it was hanging next to an awning). I love birds and everything; I just don't want them making homes in my plants! Current Mood: buh?Current Music: My husband going on and on about the Red Sox |

The Sketchbook 18 Rocks! Drive Samples from Sketchbook 18 In most every "decade" of sketchbooks, there's some milestone, some event that stands out among the ten. Sometimes it's fairly minor, a blip on the radar. And sometimes, it's huge. In the 11-20 decade I was in college... and by the later part of that set, I was far enough advanced in my studio art degree to start taking art history courses. The Gothic, Renaissance and Modern Art History classes were staggering. Sketchbook 18 in particular is full of long, patient drawings, done in class, out of class...everywhere. There's a lot of stippling. A lot of brush-work. A lot of inking. Looking at Sketchbook 11 and then Sketchbook 18, you'd think years had passed. I happen to think Sketchbook 18 rocks, and I would love to have more of it online! If you'd like to, too, here's the button. If you want to be acknowledged as sponsoring the scans, remember to leave me a comment! Stardancer Home. Current Mood: whoot! |

Be creative for me - a question of garden structures. I have a two-year-old. I'd like to make him some sort of play structure, but I'd like it to be a kind of structure that would translate into something useful in my garden after his use of it is over. Think playhouse that in a few years could be a potting shed or small greenhouse. My husband is a very adept carpenter and can build almost anything, I just need to give him the ideas!
Some considerations:
It needs to be somewhat attractive. That being said I appreciate form following function and function being beautiful so it's not like it has to be some grand structure.
It should be smallish - perhaps a 6' x 4' footprint? 8' x 2' footprint? 6' x 6'? Not much bigger than that.
It cannot be made of glass; I'd prefer no plastic.
It should be relatively mobile; if it could be dismantled and reassembled easily even better!
I live in a wetwetwetwet area in the winter - something that can withstand the wet is a must.
So tell me, internet, what creative ideas can you conjure up? Do you know of a garden shed plan that you've thought would make a great playhouse? Or a play pirate ship that looked exactly like a greenhouse? Or a chicken house perfect for little kids to play in? |

The Devil is in the details Well guys. I thank you all for the support. But it seems I overlooked something in regards to the application for that internship. I must have confused the dates or something. I will be submitting a portfolio to Disney for an internship. That you can count on. It just won't be until October. And by then I'll have some actual animations under my belt, hopefully. Besides, the work I did for this can also go toward my portfolio for Comic-Con. I feel like an idiot. But it's...not so bad how it turned out. Current Mood: sleepy |

MMC Con report So, what was MMC like? For those who don't know, MMC is held on an old castle which has been turned into a youth hostel. If you've ever seen photos of Eurofurence 7 (1998), you'll remember the location. MMC is special in that it lacks any kind of programming. Sure, they have a dealers room, an art show plus auction, and there's a dance. That's it. The rest of the con consists of meeting people, socializing, relaxing, having fun. Sounds boring? Now... imagine this on a 4 day weekend, the sun is shining, it's hot outside, hardly anyone stays inside. The convention sort of turns into an outdoor meet. It's relaxed, fun, awesome in any way and I got drunk every night. Yay me! Considering this, there's no real con report in the usual "Friday 12:56pm - BBF goes to the toilet" style. There are a few noteable things, tho: - getting stuck in a traffic congestion for 3,5h is NOT fun. - fursuiting IS. - I think I won the annual outgrossing-contests. - The CD Player was the first thing that broke during the dance: No, I don't think that a 5 minute song can play for another 8 minutes and 98 seconds. - The Mixer decided I don't need headphones anymore. - One of the turntables decided that pitch faders are overrated. - An extra day of con AFTER everything had been torn down and loaded into the cars = win. - not enough Jägermeister. - enough beer. - not enough ramen. - enough other tasty food! Dance Yo bunneh. Git in mah belleh! Photos are (c) Tioh. Follow the links to the full gallery. |

Plant id help? Any idea what this is? I planted it so long ago I can't remember what seeds went where. It's most likely an herb of some kind, though it could be a flower. Actually, it could just be a weed that found its way into a pot for all I know. Please help! I'm hoping it'll turn into something yummy. I. |

The Difference From rowyn: The DifferenceAm I privileged to have been encouraged to place my happiness and the people I love before my career and material wealth? Is he privileged to have been encouraged to pursue material wealth and judge his worth based on his financial success?
I don't like gender roles. I don't like one-size solutions. But I don't dislike them because they screw my gender. I dislike them because they screw people. Men and women. Anyone who doesn't fit in the right box gets shafted. Stay-at-home fathers and career women, male kindergartner teachers and female loan officers. Women who don't want children and men who cry when they're upset. Women who dress for comfort and men who want to be beautiful. It doesn't matter how you don't fit in, all that matters is you're swimming against a current of expectations. Silly expectations. Well said. :) -The Gneech Current Mood: contemplative |

critter So i'm having a bit of a problem recently... I have plants all along my windowsill in my room. (sweet pea, cosmos, daisies, rose of sharon, grapefruit etc...) I woke up yesterday and my once nearly 4 inch rose of sharon plant is down to a mere 1/2 inch! It's like it just disappeared! I have bamboo blinds to I originally thought that I have broken the plant because it might have got caught in the blinds while I was pulling them up. nope...nothing there. Last night it shrank a bit more too I live in south florida and i've had the usual geckos in my room...but they eat insects. So what on earth might be feasting on my rose of sharon plant (because it obviously doesn't like to eat anything else i'm growing!) any opinions? thanks! |

borat the movie... not funny enough Edit, now let me say that this is funny http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vb3IMTJjzfohttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHRqe9L56t4&NR=1---------------------- Ok, my cousin showed me borat and while he thinks it's funny I think it's like... dumb. So I get the references to politics, understand the whole reaction to the jews is to illicit some reaction from us but it's just... I don't get why it's funny at all. Like the subway thing, ok kissing people on the subway means you're going to get hit. NYC for you. The rodeo thing made others look stupid. I was like ok. Understood that. Many americans just want war. etc. But there was a lot of other things like the pam anderson bay watch and whatever that was like. ok, this feels like something about mary all over again. It's hard to offend me with crude humor. And I'm not on a crusade to get him to take back his words on jews and gypsies. But frankly I just don't think it's intellectually funny give me craig ferguson, conan o brien or some comedian any day. anyone care to explain why borat the movie was funny to you?
